It's all about education

With an emphasis on education, IARCOS tries to spread the concept of sustainability at all levels of the construction industry. It is a pioneering institution, which has been working, since the late 80's, towards a better understanding of sustainable construction in Argentina and in all Latin America.

Its main objectives are research, development and education in the context of respecting the environment and using sustainable construction materials towards a broader objective of creating "sustainable communities" which would ensure high-quality conditions of living for this generation without compromising the next.


To reach those objectives, IARCOS pledges to:

a) Improve the quality of living conditions by implementing environmental policies in the construction industry by selecting processes and materials that will be compliant to high quality standards ensuring better living conditions and environment protection.

b) Promote green technologies implementing the 4 "R" rule: Reduction, Recuperation, Re-use and Recycling of construction, remodeling and demolition materials.

c) Promote innovative solutions to improve social housing built with materials obtained from construction, remodeling, demolitions, donations and materials obtained through green production programs conduced by businesses in this industry.

d) Contribute to the training of professionals working in the construction industry and give them a clear idea of the concepts of respect and protection of the environment

e) Create a place where experiences, ideas and projects could be shared between communities, groups, associations, industries, businesses, government agencies (locally and nationally) and even with the international community.

f) Promote responsible energy use and management of natural resources.

g) Develop and implement models of quality urban environments.

h) Apply the model of "healthy communitites" through health education and health improving programs.

i) Lead research in the field of indoor air quality and its influence on the health of the population.

j) Promote the development of new green open spaces to improve the quality of the living environment.

k) Increase people's awareness about the Argentinean natural ecosystem and its biodiversity to help integrating urban projects.

l) Spread the understanding of the benefits of using plants to improve indoor air quality and the health of the population.

m) Bring the concept of sustainable development to a wide audience and publicise research and projects undertaken by IARCOS.

n) Generate employment and contribute to social cohesion.

o) Organize training days through classes, meetings, congresses or seminars.

p) Organize artistic, sporting and cultural activities, including public shows that would help spreading IARCOS's objectives.
