Sebastian Presti
President







As recognized by his long list of credentials, Sebastián Presti is considered the foremost authority on green building in Argentina. His most impressive accolade is President and Founder of the Instituto Argentino de la Construccion Sustentable (IARCOS).
Coupled with his highly influential positions as the Environmental Director for the Municipality of Buenos Aires and Professor of Ecology at the University of Buenos Aires, Sebastián Presti has brought green building issues to the mainstream in Argentina.
Sebastián began his career in the late 1970's when he was working as a construction foreman in Baltimore, Maryland. He relocated his family in 1976 from Argentina to Baltimore to study engineering at the University of Maryland. It was here in the early 1980's that asbestos contamination became a hot issue and peeked Sebastián interest in Indoor Air Quality.
A few years later, Sebastián was full blown into the Green Movement and studying everything he could get his hands on. "I wanted to be the King of Green Building in Argentina",said Presti about his return to Buenos Aires in 1984. It was during the late 1980's that Sebastián founded IARCOS; the first organization in Argentina (and probably South America) dedicated to environmental construction issues.



Walter Daniel Trusoni
Vice President







Walter is an Attorney. He studied in the University of Buenos Aires. He is a member Argentino of ELAW, "Environmental Law Alliance Worldwide", an NGO founded by attorneys specializing in environmental, with representatives in more of 50 countries and 20 offices.
Walter is also a member "E-Law; Tinker Foundation - E.E.U.U." and "Foundation HIVOS, Holland", and was the argentinian representative of the project "Scientists' Detection in environmental protection in South America”. He is a charter member of the "Argentine Sustainable Construction Council". associated to the amercian, spanish, englisha and australian councils.
He organized the conference "Law Science and Public Interest in Latin America" in Pachacamac, PERú, in 1996.
In 1992/1993, he worked as an assistant of the post-degree "Environmental Law and Procedural Resources". In 1997/1998, he worked as an assistant of the degree "Law of Sustainable Development", both positions at the Faculty of Law, University of Buenos Aires.



Gaston Rodriguez Touron
General Secretary







After graduating from the University of Buenos Aires as an Industrial Engineer, Gaston specialised in Environmental Engineering at the National University of Technology of Argentina. He works as a consultant in environmental issues management.
Additionally, Gaston is actively involved in IARCOS and is also a volunteer in many organizations such as "Tierra XXI", "la Red de la Ribera" and "Ribera Norte". These 3 organizations have got an objective in common: to preserve the banks of the Rio Plata, which is severely damaged mainly because of exotic species invasion, coastal construction and demolition waste.
Gaston has himself witnessed the impact of a bad waste management on the environment and especially on wetlands. He then became interested in environmental aspects of the construction industry, and decided to collaborate with IARCOS, the only organization involved in Sustainable Construction, for which he is now the general secretary.
He helped IARCOS designing guidelines in order to strengthen the organization and improve its efficiency. He is also a keen advocate of construction that respects natural resources and biodiversity.

After graduating from the University of Buenos Aires as a Civil Engineer, Jorge worked for many years at the Department of NIIT (National Institute of Industrial Technology), in research and development of construction materials. He had the opportunity to present the results his research during meetings. His works contributed to the creation of crocedure and regulations.
Later, he joined the TAROH (Human Origin Water Waste Treatment), collaborating with a company which developed a procedure in water waste management.
During a congress of AIDIS (Argentine Association of Engineering Sanitary and Environment Sciences), he presented, in collaboration with Pr. Sebastián Mario Presti, a work on "the energetic assessment of construction materials".



Marcela Cristina Aranguren








Marcela is an Agronome Engineer, graduating from the University National de Entre Ríos and specialized in ornamental plants of exterior and interior.
She has given chairs of parks and gardens, has realized projects and managed works in parks and gardens. Taking part in works of several places and for several companies.
She is currently working on the benefits generated by the presence of certain healthy indoor plants on the labour environment This research comply with one of IARCOS's objectives: helping people creating a good quality of life for their family.



Miriam Alba Pietronave








Miriam is a teacher who worked for four years as director of a school, where I was lucky to know Sebastian, on having asked for help to avoid the pruning of an eucalyptus forest.
From this moment a sincere friendship between was born, based on the same feeling: helping those who need it the most.
Together we achieve several aims in the neighborhood "La Jabonera", of The Tablada: we planted 50 new species on landfill, so that the population can enjoy it. This was achieved jointly with a local business that gave garbage baskets in the neighborhood .



Susana Flores








Susana is IARCOS's treasurer assistant. She works in education by vocation and and by the love of a better world. She decided to get involved in IARCOS to meet people that she could share ideas with. She found in IARCOS a place to share emotions and desire of a better future, one that would be sustainable for our generation and the next.
